There's A Monster In My Kitchen!

I haven't been posting as many blog posts as I would like, but sometimes it's hard for me to decide on what to post about. Tonight, I had two ideas for a post, and I will probably save one for another couple of days, but I really wanted to talk about this subject.

I'm not much of a political person, and I am not someone who would go out and protest for any kind of civil or animal rights groups, but I posted a blog a little while back talking about the amazing animation studio, Cartoon Saloon. They put out the most gorgeous 2D animation you will ever see. You can turn on one of their feature films or short films, then pause it anywhere in the film, and it would be amazing art to display in your home.

Cartoon Saloon did a Star Wars short film for Star Wars: Visions: Season Two. It's called Screecher's Reach. It borrows the idea from The Empire Strikes Back, where Luke Skywalker goes into a cave, sees and fights Darth Vader, and when Luke chops Darth Vader's head off, the mask is broken, and Luke sees his own face. In Screecher's Reach, a force sensitive child and their friends embark on an adventure into a cave much like the one Luke goes into.

If you don't know what Star Wars: Visions is, Disney and Lucasfilm asked quite a few different animation companies to write and create their own Star Wars short films. I must warn you, Screecher's Reach is really scary, a lot scarier than any of the other Visions entries, but I'm not here to talk Star Wars. Cartoon Saloon partnered with Greenpeace to make a two-minute short film about deforestation in the Amazon Forests. Meat companies destroy the forests to make fields for chicken, beef and pork farms for us to eat.

Now, I love me a good steak, or pork burrito, but I do worry about killing the Amazon Forests. There are so many different kinds of animals that call the forests and jungles home, and the more we destroy the Amazons, the more we destroy our planet and the ecosystems that keep the world in balance, but it won't be that way for long. Cartoon Saloon and Greenpeace made an incredible two minute and thirteen-second-long video called There's a Monster In My Kitchen, and it's both beautiful and haunting and downright scary in parts, but the message is beautiful and clear. I will post the video below...

Like I said, I do eat meat. I don't mean for this post or video to try to change anyone's eating preference whether you eat meat, or are a vegetarian or vegan, but I find this video to be beautiful, and it has a strong message. It makes me think of what I do eat, and what I waste. I tend to order meals with my eyes thinking they are my stomach, and usually have leftovers that end up getting thrown away, and there is meat that goes with it. The video made me think on what I might eat, and how much. Maybe by being more proactive in choosing what to eat wisely could help save parts of the Amazon or other rain forests around the earth.

I hope you are all doing well and are happy. I hope that this video did two things. One, have it's message reach you, and two, you really should look up Cartoon Saloon and their films. They are all very amazing. They are based out of Ireland, so a lot of the films have Irish accents. There is a good one on Netflix called My Father's Dragon that is great. If you want to dig a little deeper, Song of the Sea, Wolfwalkers and The Breadwinner are all incredible excellent. I hope you will give them a chance.

Well, it's almost bedtime, and I have some routines I need to get out of the way, so I will bid you a goodnight, or whatever time of day it is that you read this. Thanks for reading and watching!
