Update: 04/15/2025
There have been some things that have happened, and not all of the Pieces of Eight are out there. The original spot for #2 was in an old church parking lot under a broken lamp post with a cement base. The church and parking lot are scheduled to be demolished pretty soon, so I am currently looking for a new spot for #2. I have it at home.
Next, #6 had all of the pennies stolen from it. I thought that everyone in the Geocache community would be honest about the pennies. They didn't even steal a dollar worth, but they are all gone. They were the green pennies. I will still count #2 and #6 if you just comment on the #6 cache, and don't worry about number 2. I will try to get things all put back together.
Hello Geocachers! My name is Nate, and my son Elliot wanted to do a multi-cache project since we have hidden two individual caches and love it when people find them. If you are here as a geocacher after finding and scanning a QR code, or on the Geocaching app, go ahead and skip the second paragraph below this one.
If you don't know what Geocaching is, it is an app with a map that shows you where people have hidden little boxes or containers, and when you tap on one, it tells you the name of the cache, plus it gives you the exact coordinates where the cache is, well roughly, you still have to look a little harder sometimes. After finding a cache, you go on the app and log that you found it. The container will also have a little paper where you write your geocaching nickname and the date you found it. It's like a little treasure hunt, and they are super fun.
If you are reading this, you are friends of mine who are subscribed to my blog, but if you are a Geocacher, this is where my challenge starts.
All of the caches are hidden in Magna. I went to Cyprus High School in Magna, and Cyprus is also where my dad taught Sophomore English for 99% of his career as a teacher. He coached Baseball, Football and Golf as well. Magna is a special place to me. I currently live in Magna myself, so it will be easy to maintain the caches.
I titled the Multi-Cache "Pieces of Eight" because it was a type of money pirates had, and Cyprus High School's mascot is The Pirates, So I figured I would go with the theme. Here is how it works:
I have eight containers, each containing pennies that I painted in different colors. Each cache has the same color in it. For example, all of the red pennies are all together in one cache. Here is a picture of the pennies together...
