I feel very lazy as a blogger right now. I have been so busy, and to be honest, have had a lot of things I could write blog posts about, but as I mentioned in the last post in the middle of November, I started dating a girl that I have loved since I was 17. Her name is Lindsey Carter (Dickison is her maiden name.), and both of us have been married and divorced, so both of us have had new challenges that come with dating someone when you are in your 40s compared to someone in their early 20s.
One thing that I didn't think would happen with me was getting married again. I want to, but I couldn't see it happening until October of 2023. I also know that dating a single person isn't always easy, but when you both have kids, you kind of have to prove to them that you really care about them and their mother, which isn't something a person in their early 20s has to think about....usually.
Tonight, Garrison, Lindsey's youngest son, has a bad fever, upset stomach and a bad cough. He's in pain, but today, I've had Lindsey's kids warm up to me, and I was able to give Garrison a blessing for the sick and afflicted. Lindsey and I also went and got our engagement pictures taken at Saltaire, which was freezing, but they turned out well. I will post some of them when I have the touched up copies, but I do have one I can share here from when we got engaged.
I feel like the luckiest man alive tonight. We had the pictures done, and while we were in the middle of taking them, I couldn't stop looking into Lindsey's big beautiful green eyes, and had the spirit completely wash over me and knew that she is my eternal companion. Then being able to give Garrison a little blessing for the sick and afflicted, I had more of that spirit wash over me, and I know that everything is how it is supposed to be.
I haven't written a blog post in a while because I have been busy, usually doing things with Lindsey or teaching curling at the Utah Olympic Oval, with an occasional film critic screening here and there. Oh, of course, I got my press credentials for Sundance, but I won't be going the first two days because...
I'M GETTING MARRIED ON THE 19TH!!!
We are just going to get a civil marriage first because since I am divorced from a marriage, the church has to give me clearance and the go ahead to be sealed again, and we are going to have a bigger reception/party when we do that instead. Both of our families have been fantastic and all for it. It's less than two weeks away, but time feels like it is ticking backwards. I love Lindsey and her boys, and can't wait for everything to be official.
So, that's my update. I promise to blog more in the coming weeks. I hope you are all well. I had Covid 19 with my parents, and we missed Christmas with my family because of it. It did have a positive effect on me though. I was reminded of the true meaning of Christmas, and that presents and food are great, but it's the loved ones and friends we share the holiday with, and I have a new found love for my family and friends. BTW, I have a friend named Heidi, and her mother passed away a few days ago. If all of you could say a little prayer for her, that would be great. Also, my whole family, minus me, are really really sick, so pray for them too!
Well, this is about the time in a blog post where I say something like "Well, that's all I have for now. Uncky Nate Out!" So, Well, that's all I have for now. Uncky Nate Out!
