A Perfect Song About Life.....

When I was an early teenager, the film Far and Away was released, and it became one of my favorite movies. When I was on my LDS mission, I took a CD of the soundtrack with me, because we were allowed to listen to "Classical Music", although that rule got a tad stretched, lol. Anyway, Enya has a song on the soundtrack to Far and Away, and not is it only a beautiful song with the music by itself, it has some amazing lyrics. Every time something happens that changes the course of my life, I always remember the song.

The lyrics are about a person who has clear goals for their future, and they know the whole plan, and everything they need to accomplish to get there, but then life happens. It talks about failings and falters, and how those failings and falters change the course of the person. All of a sudden, in just a moment, your life's course is altered, and when the journey is through, they are in a completely different place than where they originally wanted to go, but they end up in a better place, even though their original plans didn't work out exactly the way they wanted them to.

I will post the video for the song here, and below it, I will type out the lyrics....

One day, one night, one moment
My dreams could be tomorrow
One step, one fall, one falter
East or west,
Over earth or by ocean
One way to be my journey
This way could be my
Book of days

No day, no night, no moment
Can hold me back from trying
I'll flag, I'll fall, I'll falter
I'll find my day maybe
Far and away
Far and away

One day, one night, one moment
With a dream to be living
One step, one fall, one falter
And a new world that cross a wide ocean
This sway became my journey
This day ends together
Far and away

This day ends together
Far and away
Far and away.
Anyway, I have always liked that song, and I love the idea behind it. Sometimes we are so focused on wanting something, and wanting life to take us places, but sometimes, life doesn't turn out the way that we think, but it might be even better than the plan you start out with in the first place. I try to keep that in mind when I go through something difficult.
On the same subject, one of my favorite lines from a movie, and it's from Bruce Almighty, strangely enough, and it's in a deleted scene, lol. Anyway, In the movie, Jim Carrey's character is visited by God, and given his power for a few days. In the deleted scene, there is a auto mechanic who is a big jerk. What happened was while Jim Carrey's playing God for a few days, he starts answering everyone's prayers by just saying yes.
When God, played by Morgan Freeman, comes back, and a bunch of chaos has happened, God shows Bruce that while he was in grade school, he was bullied really bad, but because of those experiences, the man turns out to be an incredible poet, and would have been world famous, all because he had to learn life by being bullied, but the boy's prayer was to make him stronger, so that he could defend himself and beat up the bullies. The problem is, when his prayer was answered with a yes, the boy turned into the biggest bully at school, and his grades were terrible, and he works in a crappy place for crappy paychecks.
This is when the line comes in. Morgan Freeman tells Jim Carrey, "Sometimes you need to use a few dark colors to paint a masterpiece.".
It's so true. When we have bad things happen to us, sometimes things might seem insignificant, they might be a huge piece to a puzzle you are putting together in your life. We all have things in our lives that are hard, and temptations that are strong, but we need to remember that bad things happen to everyone, and try to look for the ways those dark pieces of us are something to figure out to put a spin on it and come out on top.
There you go. That's it for this post. I hope you are all doing well, and that you are healthy. I'll be back later with another post. I am also thinking of starting a creative writing blog. I have thousands of writing prompts to write fiction or non-fiction, some might be stories, some things might be sketches, or some things might just be a synopsis for a fun book to read. Anywho, I'll talk to you later!
