Elliot is 10 Years Old Today! Holy Cow!

Ten years ago today, September 26th, 2010,  I became a father of an incredible kid who is my whole world. It was a Sunday morning, and we waited anxiously for close to six hours, and then he came. We had three names picked out for him, none of which were Elliot, I called him Elliot, and it was like it was always going to be Elliot from the very beginning.

For his baby blessing at church, my close friend, Nate Mulford, asked me if we named him after the movie E.T., which is a favorite of mine, but I said, No, Pete's Dragon, and we laughed. He wasn't named after either, but I still love the the movies that use his name. A couple of months later, we had Christmas, and it was so exciting to be a dad and to buy things for my little guy for Christmas.

About a month later, we learned that his little soft spot on his head wasn't closing up as normal as other babies, so we had to get him a little helmet to wear for a few months. It was so cute. Here is a video link. Check it out. It's so cute....

He is so loved by everyone who meets him, and he quickly became Grandpa's little buddy. Here's another video, but it's only eight seconds, and it's super cute.

He is also his dad's best friend. It's so fun sharing things you love with your kids, especially while they are young and impressionable, lol.

Here he is with a guitar hero guitar, playing along to an Aquabats Concert DVD I have. We both love the Aquabats now. Check out the video. It's so cute and funny.

As I have watched Elliot grow up these past ten years, it's impossible to picture my life without him in it. I am constantly loving him and trying to live my life in a way that will teach him to make good choices and be the very best person he can be. Elliot takes after me in some ways, which I love. I recently got an email from his teacher who has been teaching elementary school for twenty years, and she told me that Elliot is one of the smartest kids she's ever had the pleasure of teaching and that his sense of humor and quick wit are far beyond any other child she has taught. Here are a couple more recent pictures of us together.

He is getting so big and starting to grow up a little too fast. Sometimes I miss the days where he was a baby and loved copying everything that I do, but I'm also proud of the person he has become to this point in life, and proud of the person he is becoming every single day.

I've never felt this much love for someone else, besides my parents and family, but even then, my love for Elliot is special, and Eternal. I know being a dad is going to be getting to be harder and harder as he prepares to become a teenager and adult, but I'm so happy that he still have some of his childhood left, and am hoping he still looks up to me and loves me as we travel that road of time together.

I love you Elliot Burton Unck. You are my world, and I will never stop loving you. You are the best thing I have ever done in my life, and I cherish you. Happy Birthday Buddy. I hope it is amazing for you, and I can't wait to see what you think of the presents I got for you.

Love, Dad!
