Hello, I'm sorry it's been a few days. I have either been busy, or feeling super tired due to my insomnia. I've hardly had any sleep this week, and it's been tough. Okay, let's get on with the blog. Here comes song 28!
"A song with a place in the title."
The Great Salt Lake by Band of Horses
I first heard of Band of Horses from a student while I was substitute teaching in high schools. I think that the "real" punk rock movement died in the year 2000. After poser punk bands started coming out copying Blink-182, I was looking for something new. The Emo movement started, and I got into a few bands. Not a lot, because a lot of them sound the same, and even if I liked a song or two by a band, it usually never went past liking those songs. However, Band of Horses was a band I got into. I was really surprised to see a song titled The Great Salt Lake.
Okay, now here are my recommended Simpsons episodes for season 4! I usually recommend only three episodes, but I will recommend five episodes for both seasons four and five because they are my personal favorite seasons, and there are too many good ones to just recommend three.
The Simpsons: Season 4
Episode 1. Camp Krusty
As summer finally comes for the kids at Springfield Elementary School, Bart and Lisa go to a sleep away summer camp at Camp Krusty, However when they get there, they discover it's run by a terrible head counselor, and their older kid counselors turn out to be the bullies from school. But things take an interesting turn when the campers rebel!
Episode 5. Treehouse of Horror III
This is my favorite Treehouse of Horror in the series. Homer gets Bart a Krusty the Klown doll for his birthday that happens to be evil and tries to kill Homer. Another segment has Lisa trying to resurrect her dead cat, but turns the town into zombies instead.
Episode 6. Itchy and Scratchy: The Movie
As the kids get super excited for the brand new Itchy and Scratchy movie, Bart's trouble-making finally ends up with him being punished by Homer by not being allowed to see the movie. Homer and Marge hope that the punishment will teach Bart to be a better person and become Chief Judge of the Supreme Court.
Episode 12. Marge vs. the Monorail
This is my all-time favorite episode of The Simpsons, hands down. Written by Conan O'Brien, This episode based loosely on The Music Man has a great song number, a bad guy building a faulty monorail system, Homer becoming the operator, and wondering if Batman will help him save everyone aboard the monorail. It also teaches us that the definition of "Monorail" is Mono meaning One, and Rail meaning Rail. And that includes our seven week intense course study!
Episode 15. I Love Lisa
In this episode, Valentine's Day leaves poor Ralph Wiggam without a Valentine from the other students in the class, so Lisa takes pity on Ralph and gives him a Valentine that in turn makes Ralph fall in love with her. This is the episode that really made every Simpsons fans love Ralph Wiggam. There's a great song about the lesser known presidents of the USA, and a terrible Krusty the Klown anniversary show. This episode also has one of my favorite Homer quotes as he tries to help Lisa come up with something to tell Ralph to let him know she isn't interested.
Well, that's my five, but if you really want to see some other great episodes, watch Episode 13. Selma's Choice and Episode 17. Last Exit to Springfield.
Well, I hope that everyone has been doing well for the past few days. I promise I will post some new blogs soon. I have some ideas that I've really been wanting to do. Have a good day, be kind, and remember.... Uncky Nate cares about you!
