To be honest, I am starting this blog post without a topic. I don't know what it will end up being about, but we can go on that journey together. Does that sound like something you would want to do? It is? Great! I figured that I could start off telling you what I've been up to lately.
I love the MCU (That's the Marvel Cinematic Universe for anyone who has been living under a rock, buried in a cave that is inside an active volcano that is guarded by a dragon and a few middle-aged elves that have nothing better to do,), and I have really been enjoying the Disney+ Marvel shows, and have even gone back and watched the Daredevil and Luke Cage Netflix shows, and I forgot how awesome Daredevil is. Speaking about Daredevil, his alter ego, Matt Murdock, is a lawyer, and in December when we see that Matt Murdock is a lawyer that was going to help Spider-Man in court, everyone in the theater cheered, especially since they are using Charlie Cox who is the actor who played Daredevil in the Netflix series, and now, he has appeared in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, both as Matt Murdock in court, and Daredevil, where She-Hulk and Daredevil team up in one of the best episodes out of any of the MCU Disney+ shows.
I can't wait for the Daredevil Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, since it's a soft reboot. but it's likely to come out in 2024, so there is a wait. I have really loved She-Hulk though, but I am sad that they haven't greenlit another season. For those of you that don't know what "greenlit" means, it's a film and television term that is used when the network or streaming service decides to move ahead into production. If there is no greenlight for a series, it pretty much means it's not going to happen, but there is still a window of opportunity for Disney to greenlight a new season, but it hasn't happened yet.
I have also really been enjoying the Star Wars TV shows on Disney+. Obi-Wan Kenobi was great, and their new show, Andor, is great too. If you don't know what Andor is, I will tell you. There is a Star Wars film that was made that isn't technically a "Skywalker Saga" called Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It is about a team of rebels, lead by Jyn, who is the daughter of the lead architect of the Death Star, but he's a good guy, and he tells the rebels that he created a small thermal exhaust port that could cause a chain reaction and blow the Death Star up. Sound Familiar? The end of Rogue One shows Princess Leia receiving the plans of the Death Star, right up to the point of her filming the "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're My Only Hope." line, which starts right into Episode IV.
So, Andor is a man who helps Jyn get the Death Star plans, his full name is Cassian Andor. He is brought into the rebellion, where there are only seven or eight members in the whole galaxy that are the rebel forces, and the show is about Cassian Andor fighting and trying to help build the rebel alliance, which is really cool because everything we know about the rebel alliance is after they have their strength in numbers, and the show is more like an espionage, spy and heist show. It will have two seasons, Season 1 is going on right now and they have six episodes out at the time of me writing this post. It airs on Disney+ on Wednesdays. The plan is for twelve season one episodes and twelve season two episodes, which will lead right up to the Rogue One movie. It's a little slow, but the dialogue and the story are very well written, and the show helps the viewers see how they are going to go about their business with their spies and heists. It's worth two slow, but important episodes to get to a third action packed episode, but it's interesting and fun, especially if you love Star Wars.
Right now, I am taking two school classes. A sociology class for my social science credits and an illegal drugs class for my health credits. I am enjoying them, but there is so much reading in the drug class. It's a lot of work, but I am doing really well, and I actually really enjoy school now. I found out that Elliot, my son, just transferred to a new school closer to his house in Kansas, but I always tell him how important education is, and that's why I went back to school. I love being a film critic and writer, but really, I would love to have a degree to teach a film related class in a community college or university, while still doing the critic and writing stuff.
I have been busy with my curling league at the Utah Olympic Oval. My team isn't doing super hot right now, but we had a really fun Halloween tournament, and we played in the championship game, only to lose by a few measly inches. It was also nerve-racking to have forty people watching me when I threw the final stone, but was just a tad fast. It was a great way to lose though. I'm not even upset, lol. It's such a fun sport to play. I also might start teaching the learn to curl classes at the Olympic Oval. They have had some people that were teaching that moved or stopped wanting to teach the class, and I might take one of those spots.
I bought an Apple Pencil for my iPad, and I really like going onto YouTube, there is a guy that shows you how to do Bob Ross style paintings in the program Procreate on the iPad. The instructor is very detailed, and it's nice because if you mess up, you just tap the back arrow, and you can try it again until you get it right. It's really fun. Here is an unfinished picture that I am still working on...
