It Has Been A Minute

I would really like to apologize to all of my blog followers and readers, so three of you ;), I'm just kidding. My son Elliot was with me through all of July, and the first week of August. He went back home to Kansas yesterday. I am super bummed out that he has gone home. I never get enough time with him, and it's hard when I don't have him with me. If any of you ever think you need a break from your kids, trust me, being away from your child/children is heartbreaking.

One awesome thing though, my favorite band, Coheed and Cambria were in town earlier tonight and I bought the $175 ticket to do a meet and greet, autographs and pictures, plus an awesome place to stand to watch the show. I also got two really awesome Coheed and Camrbia shirts. I think half of my t-shirts are Coheed and Cambria t-shirts. Anyway, it was a great show.

While Elliot was here, I bought him the Nintendo Entertainment System Lego set that cost a pretty penny, but it was awesome to build. You get to build the original NES console, the controller, a Super Mario Bros. game cartridge, and a TV set that scrolls a Super Mario Bros. level. It was awesome.

Elliot and I did a lot of great stuff together, and I want to write about them in another blog post.

I don't remember how much I mentioned about a class I took at Salt Lake Community College. It was a class called Film and Culture. I needed a humanities credit, and the class gave me both a fine arts credit and a humanities credit, so that was awesome. Anyway, I finished the class with 100.14%. I did an extra credit assignment for fun, and I ended up getting the highest grades in the whole class, there were 44 other students. I guess I had a leg up on the competition being a film critic and had watched most of the films we watched in class.

Basically, each week we would study a different race, class, sexual orientation and disabilities and how they are represented in American Film. It was a great class, and it really opened my eyes, and it has already having me critique films with that contain representations of the races, classes, sexual orientations and disabilities. It was a fantastic class. I am kind of sad it's over.

So, some of you out there know that I am in the Utah Olympic Oval Curling League, and we have been able to invite the Ukranian Olympic Curling Team living here while things are bad in Ukraine. We have a big curling tournament up at Weber State University next weekend. Every participant has to pay a $100 entry fee, so $400 per team, but all of the money is going to help the Ukranian Olympic Curling Team so that they can stay and live here for however long they want to stay. I am excited. With Elliot here, I didn't do the Summer League, but I did take Elliot to a league night and taught him how to curl. It was a lot of fun.

So, I have three projects that I am working on right now. Two I am going to keep secret, but there is one that I will give you a hint....

Anyway, I am so sorry that I have been so busy and having a crazy summer. I hope everyone out there is still doing well. I hope you are safe and not sick. My poor sister and her family all have Covid...again.  They have had all of their shots and boosters, but they still caught it, like I did back in January.

Anyway, I hope you are all happy, and I will be back sooner than later with another post.
