"A song you love that's an opening track on an album."
I love this song so much because it opens up their album, by the same title, and goes right into my favorite Smashing Pumpkin's song, Tonight, Tonight, which also has my second favorite music video ever, only to be outdone by Michael Jackson's Thriller!
Check out both songs together if you can. It's pretty easy to play a full album on YouTube!
Okay, as I promised, here is a funny little quote by Joey Ramone...
"The thing about school is that if you're forced into learning stuff, you're not going to be into it!"
I think this quote is awesome. I'm preparing to go back to school to continue my education. I got into the film critic and writing business out of a connection. One of my favorite teachers to substitute teach for had a husband that was an editor for a small newspaper printed out of Magna, Utah, and then once I felt comfortable with writing, I started searching for other papers around the country online, and as of now, that has me writing for 18 different newspapers around the country. I put school on hold because I was doing well with being a writer and critic things.
I've loved writing so much, but there are still tons of things I would love to study to make me a better writer and film critic. I also always wanted to go to BYU in Provo, Utah, and study in their film program. I love filmmaking, and I love editing videos together. I have a couple videos on YouTube that I edited, but it's child's play. I want to study the ins and outs of film because I think it will make me a better critic, and maybe lead to something else I love while doing the critic stuff on the side.
I chose the quote because when I go back to school, I still have some required credits that I need to acquire before moving on towards a major. I'm curious as to how things will work out this time. I have Asperger's Syndrome, and some of my classes that were required started out great, and then I would have a bi-polar change, and had a hard time. However, now I'm very well medicated, and I'm very high functioning with Asperger's Syndrome, so I'm excited to see how it goes.
I agree with Joey Ramone. When I feel forced to do things, I'm not very interested at all unless there is an element that I know I would enjoy. I decided to not go to a major university to start out. I'm going to go to Salt Lake Community College to finish up an associates degree, (Better late than never!), because I qualify for a few financial aid grants, so I will have school pretty close to paid for when I go back. It turns out that someone with Asperger's , in their 30s, and a single dad can be a great way to get grants! I'm excited, but still nervous, but more excited.
Okay, so that's a fun announcement. Okay. Now I will do three Simpsons recommendations from season 2!
The Simpsons: Season 2
Episode 3. Tree House of Horror
This is the original Tree House of Horror that started a tradition that carries on to this day. In every Tree House of Horror episode, broadcast around Halloween, there are three short stories that are silly, not scary. This one has a house that the Simpsons family has moved into that was built on an ancient Indian burial ground that has a portal to Hell in it. Aliens abduct the family, and the great James Earl Jones reciting Edger Allen Poe's most famous poem, The Raven.
Episode 16. Bart's Dog Gets an 'F'
In this episode, The Simpson's dog, Santa's Little Helper, starts acting out and needs to go to a doggie school to train him. It's Bart's job to take him and work with the training so they won't have to get rid of him. It's a pretty funny episode. I really like it.
Episode 21. Three Men and a Comic Book.
In this episode, Bart and his friends Milhouse and Martin put their money together to but a copy of the first issue of Radioactive Man, their favorite comic book superhero. However, they find that they got more than what they bargained for.
So, that's it. Thanks for reading all the way to the end! I'm grateful for all of you readers. I'm blessed to have such wonderful friends and family. I hope everyone is practicing Social Distancing and staying safe! Have a great day, and I will be back soon with another post!
