"A song that reminds me of my mom."
Why was this so easy? My mom's name is Barbara, with her name being Ann. So, nothing super insightful, except my mom is awesome and deserves songs about her, especially from such a huge band like The Beach Boys. Anyway, There ya go!
So, the state of Utah has issued a requirement that in public, people need to have a mask on over their mouth and nose, and people who don't can actually be arrested for not wearing one, which is crazy, but it needs to be done, unfortunately. Utah is constantly on the news every day with a huge spike in numbers with new cases of the Covid-19 virus. These are unsettling times for America, well, globally, and it might be hard staying home or wearing masks, be we really really need it. Here I am rockin' my new Coheed and Cambria Mask.....
Speaking of Masks, I recently re-watched a favorite movie of mine, Mask. Mask tells the story of Rocky Dennis, and his mother, Rusty. Rocky is your typical high school student, who is smart, and funny, and caring beautiful person, but Rocky has an extremely rare condition where lots of calcium deposits disfigure his skull, and as a result, his face looks like a mask. People treat him differently, like he's handicapped mentally, which he isn't. But as people get to know home, they can't help but love him.
His mom Rusty, is a single woman in a biker gang who is constantly bringing home strange men and is a horrible drug addict. But, Rocky's condition isn't a result of his mother's drug problem. She stayed clean and sober during pregnancy. Rocky inspires her to try and get help, as well as trying to get her to stop with the strange men, and to get back in a relationship with Gar, one of the bikers in Rusty's biker gang, played brilliantly by Sam Elliott. Rocky is also loved by all of his mother's biker gang who stick up for him in certain situations. It's a very happy sad film. It's one I can watch, and watch and watch, and never get tired of it. It's such a beautiful film that reminds us to be kind to everyone.
Rocky was played by Eric Stoltz who played the heroine drug dealer in Pulp Fiction, and was replaced by Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future. Eric Stoltz also would get into makeup and would go out to places in L.A. to see how people would react to be able to get into that area of the character. Cher, the superstar Cher, plays his mother and is amazing in the role. The movie is rated PG-13 for thematic elements and language. There's a couple of strong swear words, but I think it's a movie that should be seen by everyone. Here's a link....
It's only five bucks. It's well worth it. It might be streaming on Amazon. Either way, look it up and order a copy or watch it streaming. It's so good.
Well, that's all I have for this post. I've already stated this in this post, stay safe and healthy, stay home, and be nice. I'll type at you later!!!
