Song 19 and about Song 19!

I have been having a fun time doing this section of the 30 Day Song Challenge, even though I am not doing it everyday. I looked up a similar list online for movies, and they have one, so after the 11 songs I have left on my list, I will do movies, which actually might be a little more difficult for me to do since I watch tons and tons of movies. But, let's not get ahead of ourselves.

"A song that makes you think about life."

The Beatles are my all-time favorite band ever, and this song off of the Rubber Soul album isn't just a song that makes me think about life, it's also one of my top favorite Beatles songs ever.

When I was 12, I got my first CD player for Christmas. I was so in love with the Beatles and their music, I also got the Red Album, which is a compilation album from their years between 1962 through 1966. It was the first Beatles CD I ever got, and was a tad disappointed with the song "Help", because on the record, they played part of the score from the Beatles movie Help, which John Lennon wrote himself, and the CD version didn't have it on there. However, that wasn't a big deal.

For my birthday that year, my aunt and uncle gave me a gift card to a music store...So, for you kids out there, forget that you can download songs and listen to almost anything online. If you listened to the radio and loved a song, you had to leave your house, travel to a store that might have cassette tapes or CDs, read the tabs that were separated into genres, and then the artist or band you wanted was in alphabetical order, and if it was a popular album, and it wasn't in stock. You could either order one from the store and reserve a copy, which took a while, or you could try another store.

So, I went to a music store to buy the Beatles album " A Hard Day's Night", and then my grandma who was living with us, due to having cancer and needing help, bought me the Beatles album Rubber Soul. While my grandma was living with us, I shared my bed with her, and my insomnia was pretty bad, and we would stay up late to listen to a radio program that KSL, here in Utah, played called When Radio Was, and they played two different old radio shows from the late 30s, and into the later 40s.

Then, we would turn on a Beatles CD, and I always wanted to play the Rubber Soul Album. In My Life, was my favorite because it made me feel connected to my grandma and loved ones and friends.

My grandma passed away a couple of months later, but I think of her whenever I hear that song. She was my best friend. At that time, I was getting bullied really bad at school, and I would come home and cry, but she told me that I was important and smart, and that I was a very special person, and I would feel better.

When my son, Elliot, came into this world, I would hold him every single night and sing that song to him and put him to bed in his crib.

When I tell you readers of my blog all the time, that I love and care about you all. And I really mean it. Every life is made up from people and events that happen to an individual. So, not everything we do is original, out of the millions and millions of different things that you come across whether good or bad help shape you and your personality, and there are so many people living and dead that have made impressions on me. For example, I get my love of sports from my dad, I get my sense of humor from my mom. My grandma taught me how to love unconditionally. I love punk rock and ska music, thanks to my cousin, Greg. There are other things that I have learned or love or hate, and it's all because of the outside sources I've come to in my life. No one has all of the exact same traits that you do, having been influenced by someone else. I think it's really cool.

Everyone that reads my blog, and even ones that don't, have helped me become who I am based on your examples and experiences I have had in life. You are apart of that. Without you, I may not have a love for something I absolutely love because I may not have ever heard of something from you.

Thank you all for helping me become the best person I can be at this time. I look forward to new loves and experiences, while looking back into the past fondly and think of how you helped my life. I am grateful to you.

Until next time, Stay happy, stay safe, and be nice.

Love, Uncky Nate!
