"A good song from the year you were born."
Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie
So, this was hard because I'm not repeating songs. So, there goes Don't Stop Believing by Journey, well, that whole Journey album is now off limits to me. Also, it's strange because there were two songs that had something in common, like, weirdly common.
I chose Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie because I love that song, but, I noticed something really strange. In 1981 when Queen and David Bowie partnered up, they did the song. Also in 1981 Rick James released his hit Super Freak.
Now I find it super funny because about ten years later, Vanilla Ice took the sample of Under Pressure and wrote Ice, Ice, Baby. Also, that same year, M.C. Hammer took the sample of Super Freak and wrote U Can't Touch This, which was another song on this 30 song list. I loved both of those songs when I was ten. However, I think that Under Pressure and Super Freak were actually both better songs that what the middle stages of hip hop rap.
I will link the songs now, so that you can hear what I'm talking about.
I just find it really funny.
Now, I know in my post title I spelled board instead of bored. I love and collect board games....see what I did there?.......You know.......a play on words?......Huh?......Huh?.....Ah, forget it!
I have a couple of favorite board game genres. I wanted to talk about one of them, and then tell you about my favorite game or games dealing with the genre. I might share other games from the same genre in later blogs, but I wanted to use two.
The genre is Co-op Board Games where you and your fellow players work together to beat the game, instead of a game where it's every man, or woman, for themselves. Usually in co-op games, each player has a special ability that adds something to the game that another player may not be able to do, but can do something else.
I chose two games, because they are both designed by the same person.
I put the links there so I don't have to provide my own pictures of the games set up, and also, it's a link to Amazon, so if you are interested, there are pictures and the information to buy it.
In Pandemic, you play as people trying to travel the world and stop deadly diseases from breaking out and trying to cure them. It's a simple concept, but dang, you can change the difficulty of the game, and even on the easy mode, it's hard. It's also very interactive and engaging, so if you lose, you may want to jump back in and play another round. It lasts about 45 minutes to play, but ages 8 and up can play. Some co-op games you play with the family can usually be played with younger kids because parents can help them without trying to be sneaky and beat them. There are a lot of ways to lose in Pandemic, but only one way to win.
In Forbidden Island, you randomly lay out tiles into a shape explained in the rule book, and people have even posted different layouts online. In this game, you play explorers on an Island that has four special relics, but the civilization that was once there doesn't exist anymore, and to make it challenging, the tiles that represent the different locations on the island, and they are starting to sink. If they sink, the tile is removed from the game. Basically you travel around the island trying to get the four relics, and then make it back to your helicopter to win. However, If tiles sink that contain the relics, GAME OVER. If someone in your party dies, GAME OVER. The helipad sinks, GAMVE OVER. There are a lot of ways to lose the game, but only one way to win. As with Pandemic, each player has a special ability that allow them to bend the rules a little bit.
So, there it is. My songs, and information about two of my favorite board games to play.
Do you have any board games that you love that are different than just Monopoly or The Game of Life? I'm curious. Let me know in the comments!
Anyway, that's all I have for you for this post! Stay happy, stay safe, and be nice!
